This project allowed us to create a joyful, immersive environment that improved both the aesthetics and the experience for young patients and their families, while also meeting the practical needs of the medical facility.

Beaumont Peds Unit
-
Beaumont Pediatrics Unit was tasked with a remodel that would enhance the space for young patients while maintaining full functionality during construction. The challenge was to update the environment without closing the unit, requiring a creative approach to materials and installation methods. The design focused on creating a vibrant, child-friendly atmosphere while ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.
-
To allow work to proceed without shutting down the unit, we implemented a phased approach, completing one side of the hallway at a time and using low-VOC, non-hazardous materials over existing finishes. Custom wall graphics were designed to bring an undersea theme to life, featuring large-scale, multi-layered sea creatures. These were custom-printed and stacked, adding texture and visual interest to the walls while creating a cheerful and calming atmosphere.
Existing tile was covered with wall paneling, and cabinetry was refaced to match the new playful theme. A partition wall was transformed into a fun submarine, complete with hanging fish and seaweed, to separate the common play area from the hallway. The playful design elements were intended to engage children and provide a sense of wonder during their hospital visits. A custom floor pattern was designed to tie the space together, and a unique aquarium feature was created for the nursing unit to add a soothing, interactive element.
